Block Distributed Work

With Block having made the transition to a fully distributed work model during the pandemic, we recognized the need to update our employee photography to better reflect the diverse and authentic ways our team members work from home.

We reached out to our 10,000+ employees, inviting those who felt comfortable to share their personal workspaces for a day. The response was overwhelming, and we selected six individuals from different parts of the US, each with their own unique environment, lifestyle, and daily routine. To capture their stories with sincerity, we partnered with Leela Cyd, a Santa Barbara-based photographer whose talent for capturing raw, genuine moments allowed this project to shine.

From LA to upstate New York to the Bay Area, the shoot was intended to reflect the incredible diversity within our employee base and to reinforce our belief in empowering people to work from wherever they feel most inspired. Alongside the photos, we worked with our videographer Briana Jarrett, who thoughtfully captured interviews with each participant, offering a deeper look into their lives and experiences.

The images have been featured across the Block careers site, in internal and external reports, on social media, and beyond.
